Peer Tutoring

Mills offers an intellectual environment for rigorous study and lively debates. Sometimes, students may wish to seek the advice of a peer tutor about a particular question they are struggling with, overall concepts, and study and exam tips—or simply would like to enrich their studies with a fellow student.

Peer TutoringPeer tutors work with students to understand ideas they learn in the classroom, or help them to develop the analytical and study tools needed to approach solutions on their own. While peer tutors help students master material, they also encourage experimentation and independent thinking—hallmarks of the Mills way of learning.

Mills students are eligible for up to three hours of free tutoring per subject each week. Students may make appointments up to three weeks in advance if they prefer to set up a more formal schedule. Appointments can be made for up to one hour.

Peer tutors conveniently offer open and appointment hours throughout the week. Take note that while tutors may be available for appointment hours on public and college holidays or reading and exam days, they don’t offer appointments during the winter and summer break. While we make every effort to schedule regular appointments for students, emergencies and other circumstances sometimes prevent this. Be sure to confirm your appointment with your tutor the 24 hours before the appointed time.

Peer tutoring is located in the Center for Academic Excellence in the Aurelia Reinhardt Building, B wing, on the hill to next to Founders.
