Mills College offers its alumnae a personal email account with the domain address alumnae.mills.edu. These accounts are hosted by Google Apps for Education and provide all of the features associated with Gmail.
The only requirement is to have completed at least 24 semester course credits at Mills and therefore be recognized by the college as an alumna of the college.
You will receive an email from the ITS Helpdesk letting you know when it has been created.
The format of your alumnae email account will be similar to your Mills student email account; your username will remain the same but the domain will be changed. For example, if your Mills student email address is smills@mills.edu, your alumnae email address will be smills@alumnae.mills.edu. The format of your alumnae address is permanent and is not customizable.
Alumnae accounts are accessible through any Google sign-in page and, like your student mills.edu account, allow access to all of the same G-Suite features. As with your Mills student email account, you must use your complete email address as your Google username, i.e. smills@alumnae.mills.edu, with your Mills password.
Before using your alumnae email account for the first time, you will need to reset your password so that all of your accounts will synchronize. You will not be able to log into your alumnae account until you have completed this step.
The Mills Password and Account Management Portal is the central service used for managing your login credentials. You will use this portal to create your password, set up security questions that will be used if you need to reset your password, and to reset your password if you forget it.
Note: You must use the password management services via the Password and Account Management Portal to update your email password. Password changes made directly in Gmail will be overwritten by the Mills system.
To create your password, go to the Mills Resource Portal login page. At the top of the window, select the Launch Password Site link. The Password and Account Management Portal will display in a new tab. Enter your username and then follow the prompts to create your credentials. If you need help, refer to the step-by-step instructions for setting a password.

The contents of your Mills student account will not be moved automatically into your Mills alumnae account for you. You are responsible for migrating any content you wish to keep from your student account. Contents need to be moved from your current account into your alumnae account. Some content migration processes are time consuming and can take several days if you have a large amount of content to move. If you have any issues with accessing your mills.edu account to complete the transfer, please contact the ITS Service Desk by emailing help@northeastern.edu. Be sure to include that you need assistance with legacy Mills email access.
If you would like to keep the email currently in your student Mills.edu account, we recommend that you use Google's Takeout feature to transfer your mail into another Google account.
Takeout does not transfer messages in Trash or Drafts. Any labels you use in your student account will not transfer; all mail content will appear together under one label. Your Sent Mail will transfer but it will be included in the larger group of mail and will not be added to your alumnae account's Sent Mail label.
You will have the option to transfer your email as well as your Google Drive contents or to just transfer one or the other.
If you would like to migrate the Google Contacts that you have in your student account, you will need to export them from your Mills student account and import them into your alumnae account.
If you would like to migrate your Google Calendar content that you have in your student account, you will need to export your calendar from your Mills student account and import it into your alumnae account.
