For the 2020–21 academic year, Mills College is offering winter break and January Term (“J-Term”) housing in Warren Olney Hall. All living spaces in Olney Hall will be single rooms. We can support registered emotional support animals and SASS accommodations based on availability. All other residence halls, with the exception of Prospect Hill Apartments and Courtyard Townhouses, will be closed during winter break. Food service will be limited during winter break.
To help meet the needs of our students during these uncertain times, we are offering the option of full and partial winter break housing contracts. Housing contract start dates can begin as early as December 16, 2020 to ensure that students have no lapse in on-campus housing. The latest available end date for winter break/J-Term housing contracts is January 19, 2021.
The winter break/J-Term housing application is available via the Mills Resource Portal and must be completed by 5:00 pm PST on November 13, 2020.
Students residing in our independent living spaces (Prospect Hill Apartments and Courtyard Townhouses, including Clare Springs House, Joan Danforth House, and Vivian Stephenson House) who will continue to be residents in the spring semester automatically are granted winter break housing as part of their academic year housing agreement. Independent living students who leave Mills or request to end their housing agreement post-fall semester have a move-out date of December 16, 2020.
The rates for winter break/J-Term 2020–21 housing will be $31 per night plus $10 in dining points for each day that the Tea Shop is open. Here are sample totals:

Students in winter break housing in Olney Hall will have access to a full kitchen for meal preparation during the dates when the Tea Shop is closed. These students will receive $10.00 dollars in the form of meal points for each day the Tea Shop is open during the student’s contracted stay. Meal points can be used to purchase meals, grab-and-go items, and groceries at the Tea Shop. Points that are not used at the end of break will roll over to the spring 2021 semester.
