All Mills students are strongly encouraged to carry health insurance or public coverage (such as Medi-Cal or Medicare) that meets the minimum requirements of the Affordable Care Act. These requirements includes comprehensive medical and mental health services such as outpatient, emergency, and inpatient care with primary, specialty, pharmacy, lab, x-ray, and other diagnostic services.
For the 2021–22 academic year, Mills is not offering a student health insurance plan directly, except to our international students. We urge students who do not have adequate coverage through their parents' or guardians' health insurance plans to explore state coverage options. California residents should visit the Covered California website for information and coverage options and to find out if you are eligible for financial assistance. If this is your first time applying for health insurance, consider submitting a request to have a certified enroller call you directly so they can help you navigate the system and find the best plan for your needs.
Mills students do not need present their insurance information to access Vera Whole Health Center resources in person or virtually.
In accordance with federal requirements, all Mills international students must enroll in and purchase the provided Mills Student Health Insurance Plan. International students are not eligible to waive coverage. Find out more about our healthcare for international students.
The Mills insurance plan is billed by semester. Charges for the comprehensive student health insurance plan are added to your student account during the summer of each year for the fall term. If you are an international student with questions about health plan billing, contact Student Accounts at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Students can elect dental or vision plans for an additional cost. Charges for those plans are administered through the Gallagher website, not Mills Student Accounts. Please see the information posted on the Gallagher website regarding dental and vision insurance, to learn more. Also see our Community Health Resources.
