Social Sciences Annual Student Conferences

The Social Sciences Division sponsors an annual "Social Sciences Student Research Conference." This professional academic conference is held at Mills College in Oakland, California. The conference consists of a number of interdisciplinary panels in which seniors from anthropology, economics, government, history, philiosophy, and sociology present their senior thesis/essay/project research.

In addition to their fellow graduating social science majors, the intended audience includes:

  • faculty--to view the work done by graduating students in other departments
  • rising juniors--so they can see and understand the process of the senior thesis
  • underclass women--to understand the larger process of completing a major
  • the community--to see what Mills is offering its undergraduates
