Course Description

PE 031
Introduction to Rowing
Fall and Spring

Students will learn the basics of rowing and coxing in this introductory course. Equipment handling, proper technique, and appropriate conditioning will all be covered. On most days the class will meet at the boathouse and go out on the water. However, if the weather does not allow this, students will work on the rowing machines on campus. All participants will take a 10 minute treading water test the first day of class; participants who do not pass will be required to wear a life jacket while on the water. This course is not a prerequisite for joining the rowing team.
