Business and Natural Systems
Businesses have traditionally been at odds with the natural environment. Today’s sustainable businesses seek to minimize and at best neutralize their effects on the environment. In this one-unit class we will explore visions of what business could be — ways in which a business can move beyond sustaining, to actually enriching the natural environment. Using case-studies, empirical articles and theory we will explore ways that business can actually improve the health of an ecosystem, in the industrial domains of food, health and materiality.
