Accounting Concentration

Accounting is referred to as “the language of business,” and whatever your career goals, an understanding of accounting will open opportunities for professional advancement. An accounting background can provide a stepping-stone to a career in business as a chief financial officer, financial adviser, entrepreneur, or forensic accountant, as well as to careers in nonprofit organizations and government. Students planning to sit for the CPA exam should take all five accounting electives.

Accounting Concentration

The accounting concentration requires at least three accounting electives, totaling at least 9 semester course credits, from the list below. These electives are taken in addition to MGMT 214 Financial Accounting and MGMT 215 Managerial Accounting. All of these electives have MGMT 214 Financial Accounting as a prerequisite.

MGMT 212 Intermediate Financial Accounting (3)

MGMT 228 Governmental and Nonprofit Accounting (3)

MGMT 265 Cost Accounting (3)

MGMT 266 Tax Accounting (3)

MGMT 267 Financial Statement Analysis (3)
