Early Childhood and Family Research Lab

In the Early Childhood and Family Research Lab, we study infant and children's early social and emotional development in the context of family, community, and culture. Codirected by Dr.'s Carol George and Linda Perez, this interdisciplinary lab is an integral component of the Mills College Infant Mental Health Program. Studying development in children and families during the formative years of pregnancy through age five, our research goals are to further the understanding of the connections of normative development and developmental risk. Our faculty and student research is integral to these goals, each project adding to our understanding of development in young children and fortifying practices in strengths-based infant, child, and family intervention programs.
