Course Description

ENG 280E
Oakland Writers and Artists in Community and Context: We Are the Voices We have Been Waiting

In this project-based course, you will collect/curate material to support a revisionist history of Oakland’s artistic community. The class will document the history of art/artifact, a history which privileges, not the dominant economic and electoral political history of the region, but artists’ responses to those cultural and historical moments. We will research and represent in digital form the ways each artist engages
