ENG 269
Graduate Nonfiction Magazine Workshop
Fall

A journalist's approach to writing nonfiction. Workshop, discussion, and mutual criticism. Includes the study and practice of elements that strengthen nonfiction: interviews, anecdotes, factual research, and background narrative. Instruction about how to do primary and secondary research for nonfiction articles; how to explore markets and shape work for specific publications; how to approach editors and develop relationships with them; how to create a professional network; and what to look for in contracts.
