The history and literature of Western music from 1848-1945, particularly twentieth-century British music; ethnomusicology (particularly North Indian music, Hindi film, and Welsh folk music); cultural studies; post-colonial perspectives on musical nationalism, orientalism, and cross-cultural musical exchange; solo and collaborative piano performance
