We hope that you will choose to complete your degree at Mills, but recognize that you may need to pursue academic options beyond Mills and our official transfer partners. While the Mills admissions team is unable to provide counseling regarding schools that are not among our official transfer partners, the Mills advising team is available to provide support to students interested in transferring to non-partner schools.
Step 1: Use online college guides and your Mills and personal networks to learn about schools that may be a good academic and cultural fit for you.
Step 2: Explore each schools' website to learn about their academic and degree programs and campus culture.
Step 3: For each school that you're interested in, explore the admissions section of their website, paying close attention to their transfer requirements, deadlines, and application process.
Step 4: If the transfer application process isn't included on a school's website or you have additional questions about transferring to a specific school, email their admissions department to get connected to a transfer counselor.
Step 5: If your preferred school(s) require specific classes in order to transfer, consult with the Mills advising team to ensure that you have met all of these requirements.
Step 6: Follow the transfer application process for each school, making sure to meet their admission application, required documents, and financial aid deadlines. Work with the Mills Advising Department to have your official Mills transcripts sent to each school at no cost to you.
Begin by connecting with the Mills advising team to discuss the transfer process to a non-partner college or university. Set up your appointment with an academic navigator or peer academic advisor via Handshake. Be sure to indicate that you are requesting a transfer support appointment.
Use your Mills single sign on username and password (the login information you use to access the Mills Portal) to log in to Handshake, If you have not previously logged in to your Handshake account, you'll be prompted to use the "set up single sign on" option to receive a one-time use link that will enable you to finish setting up your account.

*If your transcript request is submitted by the Mills advising team or Office of Admissions, your transcript fee will be waived. Please note that, if you need to provide official transcripts from other schools, you will be responsible for submitting and covering the costs for those requests.
