Holy Names University

Oakland’s Holy Names University (HNU) was founded by the Sisters of the Holy Names over 150 years ago on the shores of Lake Merritt. Today, we continue to live by the Sisters’ founding social justice mission to empower and prepare a diverse student body for lives of leadership, service, and rewarding careers.

Financial Aid

100% of our traditional undergraduate students receive merit aid, and over 90% receive need-based aid. We are committed to meeting the financial need of our students to the greatest extent possible. HNU’s generous scholarships and financial aid packages bring tuition closer to that of a state school. Our Financial Aid Office is here to support students every step of the way.
