Writing Support Consultations

Appointments last for 45 minutes to an hour. You may schedule up to two sessions each week, but they must be on two different days. Students with letters on file with Student Access and Support Services (SASS) or who are English language learners may sign up for more sessions.

If you have not made an appointment and would like to drop in, you’re welcome to do so as long as there are no scheduled appointments and writing support tutors are available. During business hours, drop-in hours are held in the Office of Learning, Advising, and Balance (the LAB) on the first floor of Carnegia Hall. Evening and weekend sessions are held in the library. Check with the LAB or on MillsGo or WCONLINE for the drop-in schedule.

How to Make an Appointment

You can schedule an appointment using our online service, WCONLINE. The first time you use WCONLINE, you will need to set up an account. You only have to do this the first time and it takes about a minute or two. Directions for using WCONLINE to make an appointment can be found here . Appointments must be booked at least a day in advance.

You will receive an email from WCONLINE to confirm your appointment. Note that the appointment is not confirmed until you receive this email.

Appointment Cancellation Policies

  • If you must cancel your appointment, please do so at least 24 hours in advance through WCONLINE. If, in an emergency, you need to cancel within 24 hours of the appointment, notify the tutor if possible or the LAB if not; email thelab@mills.edu.
  • If you're more than 10 minutes late, the tutor may cancel your appointment.
  • After three no-shows or late cancellations, you’ll forfeit appointment privileges for the remainder of the semester. You may still attend drop-in hours at the Writing Center, however.
